I have four children. They all got to college. And the main lesson we all learned was that we never know the reason why they were not accepted to the school they wanted to get.
Why colleges don't disclose the algorithm by which they accept the students? What are they hiding? Why don't they publish the list of everybody who tried to get in, their final score and the passing score?
If SAT is not enough, give the score of other staff, such as recommendations, essays, GPA, and so on...
If a college is getting government grants, they should disclose their admitting procedure.

Also, another great secret is how the scholarships get awarded. We had to take loans to pay tuition for our children, yet we know that billions are spent for somebody who knows how to get them. I would rather they abandon all non-merit government scholarships. If people want to give to charities that pay tuition of bad students, let them do it, but do not force me to pay at the barrel of the gun.
